I hate Xmas and I'm not sorry

It seems like a race at times doesn't it, the race to consume, consume more than anyone else , time to take a look around you suckers at all the worthless shit you have accumulated that has been sucked out of the earth just for you to take to the dump with your empty sad life's. Sad isn't it how we measure our life's on how much we have eaten, drunk, driven, burt, won, made  or just thrown away in a day. 'what a sad race we really are!'

Crime in the Pines

Image
This morning I came across a terrible crime down at the Pines. The Pines by the way is the settlement just along from where I live it's like the town for me these days, about eight people live there, 1 cat, 4 chooks and about 11 dogs. Now back to the crime 'inspector Burgoyne' was on the seen early and after hours of making inquires around the Pines he has a list of suspects. Oh thats right the crime; someone or some thing nailed the girls silver beat as you can see, a heinous cold blooded crime. I have compiled a list of suspects. The Logue gang. Brin,Glen,&? Logue Martini lucky Lu The Red Comb Gang. I will leave it up to you lot to be the jury. Please post your vote, they all look innocent to me!

Crime in the Pines 'solved'

Image
Inspector Burgoyne has left no stone unturned or bottle unopened during this investigation, after keeping the garden under surveillance for many days.... This morning I had a huge breakthrough! Looks like chicken for xmas dinner at the girls this year. I now have the crime seen secure and will be expecting a nice bit of thigh or breast this xmas.

Climate change or Crime wave you be the judge .

Image
Looks like those Chooks have gone on a last minute crime spree with the sprayer, either that or the sun has been shining only in one spot at the pines, 'Climate change'? My guess though is one of the "Grass Cutter Nutters" has been completely pushed over the edge after seeing the Grass in-front of the girls place getting a bit long, after laying awake for several nights having nightmares about the evil weed taking over it all became to much for them , just another example of the power of the Evil weed. Inspector Burgoyne will be interviewing the usual suspects and his guess is someone will be shaken and not stirred this Xmas at the Pines!

Climate change

Image
This picture is comparing the size of the atmosphere against the size of the earth This subject fascinates me mainly because everyone I talk to seems to think it is not happening or it's just another apocalyptic scam. Now just about everybody I talk to has there head still stuck firmly up there ass by the way, hang on not the ......you know who you are. maybe it's just they all have televisions "Michael FrantiS band: Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. wrote a song called "Television, the drug of the Nation". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA5faeCGg-w Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation ... this song rocked my world and made me start to think about this and that , I read a lot about Climate change over the years it is fascinating science and I love science and the way it works, science has brought you just about everything you possess today, plus your health, but when these guys come up with an idea that will cost you money or more to the point cost the o...

Dogs

Image
Get a dog they said, great company, well now I have three dogs so I plan to be three times less lonely than anyone else. Dogs are decedents of wolfs did you know, they have only been around for the last 30,000 years, you see we tamed a wolf somewhere along the line and we humans then started to breed all kind of wolfs form her, by that I mean we took dogs/wolfs with certain characteristics and breed them together and mixed them again and again till we then got all kind of breeds , so dogs are a human creation, we shaped them into what they are today, i find this fascinating and as i am very interested in evolution, this can be held up as a classic example of how animals can change in time and over time. so now i have Goldie, Ming&Kawa, Pete didn't think much of the pups names but what's a name anyway , my name is Rodney but I feel like a woman, when I say I feel like a woman thats not to say I'm gay it's just something us guys feel like, 'a woman' and it...

Time

Imagine having enough time to think, I have now and my blog is where some of that thinking lends itself to words. Most people have little time to think and for them it's better that way, believe me. once your alone with your mind and have time to look at your life things can get a little scary. Firstly loneliness comes along, this is nothing but self-pity in my opinion, you are felling sorry for yourself because you are alone, get over it I say, or do something about it, you have been alone the whole of your life really and you will most likely be alone when you die, unless of-course you blow yourself up on a bus full of christens "now thats going out in style", and all those virgins, although really the stupid muslims have this all wrong as well, it should be 72 hookers, partying with 72 virgins is going to be ok but 72 hookers would be much more fun I would guess, not that I would know being a virgin myself. So on to my other pet subject this week 'Sport' funny...

Shaving

Talking to an old friend of mines wife the other night (well I guess she is a friend of mine too, but I'm a bit suspicious of friends wife's after one put her hand on my knee one night and whispered in my ear) anyway I must of told my friends wife that I was getting old, she said 'your not old'. When I was 25, people my age 39 (I have been 39 for 6 or 7 years) where old and as I don't think I am going to live forever like most of the population/suckers, I am happy to say I am getting bloody old. My back aches, I have something called calcification of the shoulders, my hair hasn't just turned grey it has fallen out, you know I was once told ' Rod if you keep doing that you will go blind' and I said can I just keep doing it till I need glasses, nobody mentioned the hair falling out, more lie's . People will say but Rod you've had a misspent youth, to many drugs, shit I can hardly remember my youth, I take more drugs now than I did ever did in my y...

Noise

It's the school holidays and i had my two nephews staying all last week, we went fishing and pig hunting in between the rain, lots of fish, but no pigs, no pigs for a while now in-fact. I find a few days with children the best contraceptive I can buy, puts me of sex for any amount of weeks, I have never been that keen on having children myself, to start with I am a man and it's biologically impossible, also I cant see the point in spending thousands of hard earned dollars and 20 years of my life raising someone so I no longer have to mow the lawn! yes thats right because as you know I don't have a bloody lawn. They where at it again today the crazy crass cutters, they arrive on holiday and the first thing they do is mow the figging lawn, maybe it's just to quiet here for a lot of people and without constant noise the demons start to whisper in there ear's, 'why mow the lawn it will only grow back again, you should be sitting back with a beer in your hand taking ...

Grass

Image
Some people smoke 'Grass', and to be honest this seems to me the only thing it is good for, not that I smoke it of-course that's against the law. You could say I'm in the Bill Clinton club when it comes to drugs&sex, but I do enjoy a good cigar! The sun was out in the inlet this morning after many days of rain, then all hell broke loose, all I could hear was lawn mowers&weed eaters roaring away burning carbon and cutting that evil grass. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed but once you sew the seeds this stuff just keeps growing, slash it, mow it as much a you like but this dam stuff just grows back. People spend a lot of there free time cutting this evil weed. On weekends when they should be relaxing, these suckers are out there doing battle with the Grass, there seems no point, perhaps I am missing something here, but I doubt it. My neighbor pete says he loves the smell of cut grass, I think that's because the smell of cut grass means he won't ...

Tennis

While suffering at my mothers the last week the US tennis open has been going on, now I used to be a sports fan 'once upon a time' (sounds like one of those nursery rimes they used to feed us as kids). How these days I have real problems watching any kind of sport (some will say I have problems, others will say it's my imagination and I need help) I would say the people watching tennis are the ones needing help and the rest of you can p___ off!, but I digress, Tennis has to be one of the most stupid games ever, and the people that play it should be locked up with people that watch it, (perhaps they already are) they must be insane lets face it, from a distance or even close up this game is complete madness, we have two people sometimes four standing on a flat surface with some lines drawn on it with a net between them, then give them a couple of balls, yes balls, the things we throw for dogs to chase, but in this case the people are going to hit them with a racket across t...

Stuck in the city

Well I made it down to the city (christchurch) to 'work' no less, yes I am a fool or maybe a horse, proably not a horse as these animals don't like me and have a habit of throwing me off. I have been saying with my mother! yes we are still talking, just. This has been one of the longest weeks of my life, people are always complaining "where does the time go" they say, well I have the answer 'a week with your mother' will stretch that week right out. Seems the sounds are getting under my skin (yes I'm getting soundsy) which basically means I now wear save-mart cloths and can't stand going to town. I find the city is so cold now and it has nothing for me anymore. I always was a country boy at heart or maybe it's just i don't like people that much and they are everywhere down here and they are breeding, I don't think any of them have a clue way they are breeding, I know but I'm not telling. The main problem I have at the moment is wor...

Only fools and horses work

I don't know where I ever used to find the time to work, funny system we have, the more you make, the more you seem to spend, and you just never seem to have enough. "school work die" about sums it up, well these days I only work when I have time and lately with this pig hunting caper getting more fun by the day there hasn't been much work going on I can tell you. When I woke in the night I could here a morepork, so that was a good sign as if you take it apart you get "more pork' and thats what we got this morning. My old mate Porkchop put us onto a new spot today. Up at 0530 , big breakfast and let Goldie off the chain, got the boat in the water, pete arrived at 0700 with Smoke and Jack, so off we went, lovely morning and the water was flat as a pancake, tied up at the jetty then straight up the hill, a hard climb but easy going as we where on a track after about an hour Smoke took off, there was a bit of pig sign about so I thought I would let Goldie lose, ...

Two gun Mathea & Pete's new boat

Image
Firstly I would like to say that over the last few years we have had some wonderful girls move into the inlet, now I have spent the better part of my life running from females, and I'm not suggesting that the sudden influx of women has anything to do with me living here of-course☺. Up at 0530, we had plans to bring Pete's new boat down from the head of the inlet today, problem was we had to bring the trailer over water (or should that be under water) and as there are no roads out here, this created a small problem, more about that later. Pete thought while we where up there we may as well go for a pig hunt, Mathea one of these lovely girls I was talking about was keen to come, so meet me down at the boat shed at 0700, we took the boat up to the head of the inlet to meet Pete with his four wheeler and the dogs, then we headed up to Garey's place, that's where the new boat was, I told Mathea on the way up the inlet that we will be doing the lady's hunt today, but Pete...

Dogs

Image
Sitting by the fire after a long couple of days hunting with Pete my neighbor, not much luck but spending two days in the bush is never a chore. I took the boat into town last week as needed some work done on my back and ended up with a filling at the dentists and a dog! or should that be a bitch, well ok a female dog then, and people wonder why I don't go to town much. Now my last dog Red was the biggest pot licking, wandering, mongrel you ever have meet, he had children all over Christchurch and I swore I would never get another. Now that reminds me of a story, I was delivering flyers one day push biking around the neighborhood with Red wandering along when a guy I new came out of his house and asked "is that your f-----ing mongrel?" turned out he had cleared this guys six foot back fence and impregnated his pure bread Rottweiler that he was about breed, I rode off quickly, what can you say 'act of god', another time I left him with my mother and she was out wal...

Wild Pork

Image
I don't think I have mentioned Peter&Colleen they live just down the track from me and you won't find a nicer couple, they often feed me and put up with my bullshit. Well my luck had to come right some time, Pete my 70+ year old pig hunting neighbor kindly lets me tag along and carry his rifle some times, when we can find the bullets that is, anyway yesterday was our first hunt for the winter and we had a good start. Up at 6 am and walked around to Pete&Col's, then off on Pete's four wheeler with me and the two dogs Smoke&Jack on the back, cold morning and Pete asked if I had any long trousers as I was wearing shorts and shivering, anyway we left the bike by the big tree before the bridge (in other words I can't tell you where we left the bike) and headed up the hill, frosty and cold and not much fresh sign, after climbing up and around then through a gully the dog's stated bailing a pig, Pete took off like a 25 year old down after the dogs with m...

Charity

Image
Not much to report really, cold as charity here today, my wekas Gwendala&Manfred are fit and well, they are such great listeners and just nod there little heads at everything I say, perfect for me as I try and avoid people that don't agree with me, maybe that's why I live by myself 30 + km by boat from the nearest town on the side of a hill. (did you know weka mate for life) As most of my friends are climate change skeptics, thought I would provide a website link that's right up your alleys. http://www.friendsofginandtonic.org/page13/page13.html Think I might head down to CHCH this week and get my back sortted out, not coming down like this though! I have a few Blue cod fillets (3) in the frezzer now from Port hardy, so back to my dinner. Before I forget a Quote : Contentment makes poor men rich; discontentment makes rich men poor. Keep warm

Pigs&Wekas

Image
Made it home and was thinking I might keep the blog running maybe change the header as Vanuatu will have to wait. Looks like pig hunting&fishing for the winter, so may still have a few good stories to tell. While swallowing my pride and licking my wounds in port Hardy I did a little exploring most days, I went ashore one day and came across a little wild boar rooting up some grass, he was so busy that he didn't know I had snuck up on him, there was a Weka following him around cleaning up the grubs he missed, I walked right up to him taking pictures (see below), the Weka new I was there but didn't tip off the pig and then the pig spotted me! as you can see they up and off. I could live out on D'Urville Island, but fear I would become more of a recluse than I am already.

Going Home to my Wekas

Image
I motored out of bastard harbor (Port taranaki) for Port hardy (D'Urille Island) on the 8th, gales forecast for the 10th,11th,12th. So glad to be out of that horrible place, the Mariner there was just a few piles really, as there is a swell in the Harbor day&night the boat is working all the time, creak.......creak......creak...... enough to drive you mad, as much as you want to leave the boat, you don't dear as it feels like the Bollards will be ripped from the deck or the line chafe through at any moment, as happened one night. Being on the pile moorings in Lyttleton is the worst place I think I have stayed, this comes a close second. So 100 nautical miles approximately to the South arm of port hardy. It was a good sail motor/sail, 3/4 meter swell with confused sea and light west, south/west wind, arrived 0800 and fished for a while, Blue Cod fillets for lunch. I am now anchored in Philante bay in the South arm, and intend to stay here for a few days. This is my favorite ...

Bastard Harbor

I just spent a long night rocking and rolling around in the so called Mariner here in New Plymouth Harbor or Bastard Harbor as the locals call it. 40 knot westerlies 4 meter swell forecast, the swell rolls in here and with the wind coming from another direction the boat is working all the time chewing through the lines, I plan to get out of here the first chance i get, the forecast of the next week is no good for heading north, but there may be a window to get down to Port Hardy on D'urville island Wednesday, I hurt my back putting more lines on the boat this morning, and need to lay up anywhere but here, then take stock.

Pie&Beer

Image
It's 3.30 am, I'm about 10 miles from Port Taranaki 'Newplymoth', in-steed of sitting out in the Tasman hove-two I decided to drop in for a pie and a beer at New Plymouth. The Low that I though was going to skim across the top of the north island, has decided to deepen, then come south and park up on the west coast of the north island for a couple of days. Have heard that its not very comfortable in the harbor here in a big swell, but beggars can't be choosers . I will have to clear customs again this morning. unlike the islands there is no charge here to check in and out on a yacht, always nice to get something for nothing. Hope to get underway again Tuesday/Wednesday.

Leaving for Vanuatu

I am clearing customs here (Wellington) in the morning and making for the island Tanna the active volcano one of the Southern most islands in the Vanuatu group. About 1400 nautical miles or 2800 km and at 4/5 knot or 8/10 km and hour. So I won't be posting any Blogs for a while. Quote for today: All people are your relatives, therefore expect only trouble from them.

Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist (the movie) Just watched this movie again tonight, how many of you understand the monetary system ? I had to watch it 5 times to understand it But I never was that smart.

Men in black

I ventured out today....., not so many people in black about and plus the rain stopped. I have a couple of rubbish bags of cloths on board that I got from the dump in nelson, was planing to give these away in Vanuatu, but have been thinking of handing them out in town here, Big relief today as I see these people obviously have more than one set of cloths. What a relief as all these people are freaking me out a bit, and handing out cloths to them was way down my good times list. Wednesday/Thursday looking good for a sail up the coast. Read a little passage last night taken from a book 'The worst journey in the world' enjoy: And I tell you, if you have the desire for knowledge and the power to give it physical expression, go out and explore. If you are a brave man you will do nothing: if you are fearful you may do much, for none but the cowards have need to prove their bravery. Some will tell you that you are mad, and nearly all will say, 'What's the use?' For we are ...

Restrung the guitar last night

Someone once said, 'The first inhabitants of Wellington where blown in the harbor and couldn't get out'. Well thats how I feel at the moment, a high of 11deg here today rainy&windy and don't think I will be going anywhere till late next week. Keep warm .

Sore back in wellington

Image
Hi I have finally worked out how to use this blog, so on with the story. I left Nelson a couple of weeks ago intending to sail up the east coast to opua, the tasman was looking a little unsettled, just as well i did as put my back out getting the anchor up! so much for the new anchor winch.... I ended up in the current basin south of french pass on my back taking codeine and drinking red wine, back went into spasm . Anyway finally got out of there and over to wellington a few days later and have been here ever since, that being six days, the back is feeling much better and hope to leave here on monday, not sure how far north I will get but Tuhua Island (Mayor island) off Tauranga would be nice, as one of my favorite spots and will stay there for a day on two on the way north at some stage. Starting to get a little cabin fever here in welly, there are so many people here, someone needs to tell them that there are other colors you can buy cloths in other than Black.

Up and running

Hi everyone this is my first blog post and am very excited about sailing to vanuatu this southern winter my web site will be up and running soon and in the mean time I can be contacted at bluewsc@gmail
