Only fools and horses work

I don't know where I ever used to find the time to work, funny system we have, the more you make, the more you seem to spend, and you just never seem to have enough. "school work die" about sums it up, well these days I only work when I have time and lately with this pig hunting caper getting more fun by the day there hasn't been much work going on I can tell you.

When I woke in the night I could here a morepork, so that was a good sign as if you take it apart you get "more pork' and thats what we got this morning. My old mate Porkchop put us onto a new spot today.

Up at 0530 , big breakfast and let Goldie off the chain, got the boat in the water, pete arrived at 0700 with Smoke and Jack, so off we went, lovely morning and the water was flat as a pancake, tied up at the jetty then straight up the hill, a hard climb but easy going as we where on a track after about an hour Smoke took off, there was a bit of pig sign about so I thought I would let Goldie lose, Smoke started bailing down the hill and then we heard a pig grunt just down from us, he must have been sneaking off and smelt us, anyway Smoke and Goldie where way down the hill bailing and Jack was off after the other pig we think (He is a hard dog to like Pete would say), me and Pete went down hill and followed Smoke&Goldie, then the barking stopped, 'bugger', we couldn't work it out, some times the pigs swim for it, but think this one just gave them the slip. Goldie came back and then Smoke so we where not very happy, then Smoke and Goldie where off again and I followed, Pete went back up the hill to look for jack, I was running as there was a nice track around the shore, I had lost the dogs on the tracker but picked them up again about 500 meters away, I could see the pig tracks on the track and the dog tracks following so was hoping they had caught up with it, on I ran and then when I was about 200 m away I heard the barking Smoke&Goldie had a good bail going down from the track in a little gully, down I went it was thick as and I couldn't see anything just lots of barking and the pig grunting, it was so thick I was a bit worried about getting ripped by the pig, then it must have censed I was near and made a break for it down the gully, it was a little more open down further and I could see it was a good size pig, Smoke&Goldie had an ear each and where tucked in beside its body, this is the safest place for the dogs, as the pig cant get at them, I grabbed it by the back leg put my weight on it, then got my knife and stuck it. 110lb sow on the hook, she is very fat and will be great eating . I feed Smoke&Goldie the sweet meats, as they did very well.
So another great morning for me and Pete.
Maybe I will do some work tomorrow, but then only fools and horses work.
