Pork Chops
Well what a morning up at 5.30 and took the little dingy up to the end of the inlet.
I hadn't been up there hunting for a couple of weeks, walking past bevs then was going to cross the swing bridge, then planed to go up that side of the creek so I didn't get my feet wet, soft I know.
I hadn't been up there hunting for a couple of weeks, walking past bevs then was going to cross the swing bridge, then planed to go up that side of the creek so I didn't get my feet wet, soft I know.
Anyway turned the corner to walk down to the swing bridge, it was still half dark, looking in the paddock and started thinking that looks like a pig, "No I thought" it has to be a calf, No it's a bloody pig, Ming was straining at her lead, shit the bloody pig starts walking towards me, what the fuck bev must have a new pet pig, the pig just keep walking towards me, should I shoot it? No! I won't be popular shooting Bevs pet pig, so off I go at a jog up to Bev's her dogs start nutting off and she comes out, 'Bev do you have a pet pig? No! She said, well there's one in the paddock with the cows. Pigs Fucken everywhere she said, shot the bloody thing.
So off I go, her dogs are still nutting off, I run down the hill the pig is still in the paddock, so I throw the dogs over the fence and am thinking this could turn into a fuck up, three cows and a Pig what's the bet the dogs start chasing the cows around, I managed to shepherd them in the direction of the pig and then it was all on, the dogs bailing the pig, the pig having a go at them, anyway I walked over then shot the sow, she was very old by the look of her, dogs then started eyeing up the cows so thought I better keep going, left the pig on the track and carried on.
Very wet in the bush this morning and had a poke around the bridle path, then up the other side of the valley, anyway after stumbling around chasing the pups I finally ended up half way up the hill, these bloody pups will be the death of me, they just keep running all day, around towards the creek on the right, in the manuka, the place I always say I like to Pete, I sat down to have a snack.
One kiwi fruit later I thought I should just have a look around towards the creek, lots of fresh rooting!, suddenly ming was off up the hill, so I let Lu go as well, as I had started walking her otherwise these two just run together all bloody day. Next thing 2 or 3 pigs run right past me, one was a big black&white one, Pups in hot pursut altho I didn't think they would stop them, I was a little knacked at this stage, but the adrenaline started pumping dogs barking now and then, down the hill I go, got back on the track then saw on the tracker they where way down, so off I go straight after them they had hit the bottom track up from the bottom paddock and then gone through the greek and around and up the road , so up I go and around the corner and half way up I can see they have gone over the side and into the creek heading into the native, around I go, I can here the Pups bailing hard out about 300 m away in creek , worked my way around the face and down to the creek, Pups going nuts not far but can't see them, I climbed out of the creek and almost at the next ridge Pups barking flat out and bailing hard out, I drag my 39 ear old ass up the bank and here they are, they have a boar bailed, Bloody great to watch, pig having a go at them then they rush the boar, boar chasing them, them chasing the boar, anyway I got a clear shot as the boar charged them, Lucky I hit it with Pork Chops doggy gun, you just have to remember to aim 6 inches high and 6 inches to the left, chop.
